BLIND RADIO PILOTS GEAR READINGS
CLEVELAND The Cleveland Radio Reading Service of the Cleveland Society for the Blind aired an hour-long preview reading of High Gear on their late morning "Off-Beat" program on Saturday, August 7.
Although plans have not been finalized for regular readings from this journal, CRRS Program Development Specialist, Bob Waterstradt, indicated that, pursuant to approval by Station Manager Lorry Merrill, and Walter Boninger, CBS's Associate Executive Director of Public Affairs, readings very likely
will continue on their "Community Newspapers" segment.
Late last month CRRS broadcast a half hour interview with High Gear staff member Al Morrill in which High Gear and the G.E.A.R. Foundation were examined as gay resources potentially available to the blind community.
The prodigious broadcast schedule hefted by CRRS can be received only by special equipment loaned by the Society to blind persons and those physically handicapped and unable to hold a book for reading.
